UFC 287 – Perreira “Poatan” vs Adesanya 2
After an action-packed UFC 281 where the Brazilian machine Alex “Poatan” Perreira TKOed then-defending middleweight champion Israel “Stylebender” Adesanya and took his UFC title, we are just days away from the much-anticipated sequel at UFC 287. In fact, this is going to be the fourth time that these two square off, with the Brazilian having beaten Adesanya three times so far, two times in kickboxing, and once in the octagon.
Needless to say, Adesanya will now look to prevent a fourth straight defeat by his Brazilian nemesis, and consequently regain his middleweight title. The last bout ended with a referee stoppage in the championship fifth round after Perreira connected with a short left hook only to finish with a flurry of shots, rocking and dazzling Adesanya against the cage.
Despite the Stylebender being up on the scorecards to that point, and the fact that he almost knocked out Perreira in the final seconds of the first round, it seems like the power and determination of Poatan were too much for the Kiwi native to handle. However, despite the loss, Adesanya is still opening as the favourite to win the rematch and regain his title.
Naturally, these odds create a lot of buzz, as despite being dubbed as the favourite, the three straight losses to Perreira make many UFC fans and experts doubt whether the Stylebender can regain his title. The UFC 287 fight is scheduled to take place at the Miami-Date Arena in Florida on the 8th of April, Saturday.
